Early on you get a lot of unlocks without even trying. The insane replayability of this game is why I'm still going strong after 500+ hours.įor now, keep trying different characters and unlocking more. Personally though I rarely have two runs that felt the same. If beating the game over and over is not something you want to do then maybe roguelikes aren't for you. Roguelikes are inherently repetitive and while characters have different gimmicks and there are alternate floors/bosses you can unlock you will for the most part be playing through the same levels. Each one has a post it on the character select page, when you've got every mark in hard mode you've completed them. To do this you will do hundreds of runs with different characters. You can play without 100% in mind but it's what most people aim for.
Roguelikes are a genre where the entire point is to keep beating the game, improving your skill and in Isaac's case unlocking new items and characters to eventually reach 100%.
